This charming old wooden boat was buildt in 1956 and was the first car ferry that arrived Lofoten. The ferry helped the locals communicate between the small islands in Lofoten until 1970. Back then the ferry was registreted for 100 persons, 2 x 5 tonns trucks, 1 bus and 4 cars.
The ferry goes under the nickname «Old lady» and was in the years that followed used as a spare boat until 1977, then it was sold and renamed to «Lofotpel».
From 77 – 93 the ferry was used as a working boat under construction and reparement of pirs along the coast.
In 1993 a new owner Kalle AS took place. The charming old lady was renovated and renamed to «Gamle Lofotferga». Now the ferry was used in charter traffic in Lofotens arctipilago. This charming old wooden ferry is quite a sight. There has been both Royals and tourists from all over the world on board.
The ferry is a protection vessel and has won several prices from cultural heritage. There is a lot of history in the walls on board, and as our guest the experience starts when you enter the boat. The feeling, sound, smell and decoration is one of a kind. Join us on a sea adventure that takes you back in time, and gives you pice in mind. This boat makes the perfect frame for any occasion and celebration. There is possibility for making food/serving food on board, do you feel like dancing, there is plenty of room on deck. The " Lofotferry" has the capasity of 83 passangers, speed 9 knots, and is certified for trading area 3.
The ferry is ideal for celebrations of all kind and adventures at sea. Experience the world known fjord, Trollfjord and the Norwegian arctipilago from the seaside from spring / summer and autumn, while February-April is the best time for fishing trips with friends.
